There is a piece on the BBC website looking at documentary photographer William Klein.

Klein has a reputation as being an aggressive, in-your-face type of photographer; while there is some truth in that, perhaps, he also comes across in interviews as being a pussycat. And he certainly knows his stuff. If you haven't come across his work already, it's definitely worth looking for.

In case it is of any interest to anyone in the Club, Adobe had just released a downloadable and fully working version of the beta of Lightroom 3.

Although it is a beta, I've been using it for a few days and I haven't experienced any bugs, problems or crashes.

The beta will continue to work fully until next Spring, when the the release version appears; at that time, the beta version will cease to work.

The download link is here -

BBC Four is currently re-runing a fantastic six-part documentary series entitled 'The Genius Of Photography'. I have seen it previously and cannot recommend it highly enough. The series starts with the first days of photography in its' earliest forms, travelling through daguerrotypes to digital and looking at the work of some incredible photographers along the way. I found it to be not only a very impressive and well put together series, but also deeply inspiring and thought-provoking.

This seems to be a subject which terrifies a lot of people and yet a little work can reap enormous results.

Offering a wealth of tools, Aperture allows you to manage your images and keep them organised; it then gives you methods of sorting and arranging them and of finding specific images both quickly and easily. And unless you are heavily into using layers, quickmasks and photomontage, Aperture probably has all the editing tools you will ever need. And all of this at a very reasonable price.

Photography has always been a very popular hobby for many, and a profession for others. Since the creation of the first permanent photograph in 1825, photography has grown in popularity; by 1850, the process of photography was stabilising but it remained something that was done by professionals. However, by 1888, the act of making photographs was placed in the hands of the public with the invention of Eastman’s Kodak camera, the company proclaiming ‘You press the button, we do the rest’.

Hi All,

Great to see the web sites from club members ! There are loads of great images out there. I've also had a web site for a couple of years. You can see it at

www.andydonald.com

There are various images from various places, including California, Italy, South Africa, and Kenya, not to mention Scotland and England, of course !

I also have a web site for wedding and portrait photography at

www.andrewdonaldphotography.com

Have a look - I hope you enjoy them.

Cheers,

Andy.

Please find below link to my website which was set up earlier this year.

The site mostly incorporates images from 2005 onward with one or two

taken as early as 2003

I've tried to vary the subjects as much as possible, with topics such as

Events (Appleby Horse Fair to the Edinburgh Fringe ) some sport and most

of all the Landscape which is my first love !

Hope you enjoy !

An amateur photographer is hoping to create an archive of images for a snapshot of village life. Ian Scotland is capturing the portraits of residents and workers in Crawley Down to form a record of Sussex village life in 2009, called Village Faces. The self-employed businessman is not a photographer by profession but is part of the Royal Photographic Society and his hobby has become a passion.
Sometimes "dissed" as being the poor relation to its bigger (and more expensive) brother, Photoshop, Elements may have everything you need for working on your images. But like all pieces of good software, you need to learn about it to get the best out of it.

If you have Elements, or are considering buying it, then Elements Village may be just the place for you - an exceptionally well put together forum focussing on getting the very best out of Elements.
